Keynote speaking, emotional intelligence and compassionate leadership in the NHS, launch of organisational leadership development programme
The partnership Trust is one of the largest regional NHS trusts, serving the health needs of over 1 million people within the Leicestershire region. The hospital trust has over 4,500 employees and a very active and committed people development leadership and strategy.
The Trust was launching a major new compassionate care Leadership Development programme, which was concentrated on enabling people and teams across the Trust engage at high levels in “Leading with Care” one of the core NHS leadership competencies. This was a key launch event and the senior leadership wished to include an engaging and credible keynote leadership speaker to kick start the launch event.
What We Did
An engaging and interactive 2-hour presentation was successfully designed and delivered by emintell to 180 leaders and employees from across the Trust. The presentation was entitled “Emotional Intelligence and Compassionate Leadership in the NHS” and contained a real focus on leading with care, an NHS leadership competency. Activities were included to enable the table groups to engage with the material, consider their own and their teams’ collective emotional intelligence and compassionate care levels. It also gave them time to reflect on the importance and relevance of leading with care, the behaviours associated with it and what it would require of each of them to “live and breathe” leading with care within the trust partnership.
Impacts and Benefits
Feedback from the participants was extremely positive. The presentation which was delivered at the start of the day lone event, set the right upbeat and positive tone enabling participants engage with the rest of the objectives and detail of the Leadership programme delivery. The senior Leadership team were very impressed with the services of Emintell.
