Institute and Faculty of Actuaries
The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IfoA) is the UK’s only chartered professional body dedicated to educating developing and regulating actuaries based in the UK and internationally. It has members in 100 countries and exam centres in 80. The organisation was undergoing a change programme which involved restructuring and rationalisation of various departments. This impacted on people as some had to assume new roles and move to different departments and redundancies were also a possibility.
The CEO wanted to support the team at the annual internal team event, by providing some expert team coaching and development training on responses to change and transition, and to offer techniques that the team members could use both personally and collectively to support them during the period of the change programme.
Feedback evidenced that the team members had resilience techniques that they could use both in the moment to improve their responses and feelings of control, as well as approaches that would help them have more honest conversations with other members of the team, about their own experience. They were uplifted by the workshop presentation, found the activities and facilitation style to be highly engaging, empathetic but grounded in offering practical solutions.
